A. Ryabov's thesis abstract (without figures) on Bottom water formation in the Sea of Japan. This is a study using both Russian and University of Washington data. Dr. Ryabov is with the Institute of Automation in Vladivostok, which does much of the oceanographic math modelling, and not with the Pacific Oceanological Institute or the Far East Hydrometeorological Institute, where most of the oceanographers reside. The thesis is interesting, besides the use of the two data bases, as it is an example of lower latitude (around 40 deg. N!!) formation of bottom water by ice formation. Whether this is the lowest latitude, I leave to the experts. For those interested, I can provide copies of the nine figures. ************** END Msg. A.PHY **************
