MARINE RELATED INTERACTIVE TABLES, ETC.

This is an experiment in using Java and Java Script to produce interactive tables, figures, etc.. One can use the features at this web site or download the html file and use it on or offline. Would appreciate any comments, suggestions, etc. Let me know at: E-Mail: pat.wilde.td.57@aya.yale.edu. UNFORTUNATELY ONLY TESTED FOR Netscape 4* AM WORKING ON MAKING THESE BROWSER INDEPENDENT

ON LINE February 2004:
GEOLOGIC TIME CALCULATOR
Eon, Era, Period/System, Epoch/Series, Age/Stage names and time ranges plus Map colors per inputs in Millions of Years.
OCEANIC CALCULATOR
Various parameters as functions of Temperature, Salinity, and Pressure. This is an update of the Ocean Parameter Windows program done in Visual Basic. This version has more parameters and corrects some goofs. Another advantage is that the algorithms are embedded in the code so one can check them, which can not be done in the Visual Basic version without having Visual Basic and the original file.
CONSERVATIVE, NUTRIENT AND REDOX RELATED ELEMENTS IN SEA WATER
Elements as functions of salinity (chlorinity); nutrients Phosphate, and/or Silicate; and Oxygen as a reducing agent. Discussed in Quinby-Hunt and Wilde (1987), includes extension of Redfield-Richards Plankton equation for regression of trace elements.
GRAVIMETRIC FACTORS FOR ELEMENTS, COMPOUNDS, AND MINERALS
Tables to convert standard reported chemical analyses by element, oxide etc. to desired parameter
OXIDE CONVERSION
Way to convert oxide values usually reported for geological analyses to ppm and log moles.
OCEANIC VERTICAL REDOX CALCULATOR
Dissolved Oxygen with depth for Glacial, Inter-Glacial, and Non-Glacial climates. Surface and Deep water D.O and temperature as well as pycnocline thickness variable. Useful for seeing the effects of various % PAL's. Based on Wyrtki's (1961, 1962) algorithms as discussed in Wilde (1987)
OCEANIC VELOCITY FROM STATION DATA CALCULATOR
'Mean' velocity with depth between two hydrographic stations making the depth of no motion assumption and applying the Helland-Hansen equation. Values obtained using the specific volume algorithm instread of using conventional look-up tables.

DR. PANGLOSS' TOOL BOX
Various Java Script 'snippets' which can be used to build up individual HTML interactive programs
o Box Model: Simple three box model--one can use building blocks for more boxes.
o Cycling Graphs via Choice Box: Demo of layers using EhPh diagrams for Fe at various temperatures
o Graph Reader: Using mouse to read XY graph
o Map Reader: Using mouse to read Lat-Long from Molleweide Equal-Area projection (Late Cambrian Paleo-geography/oceanography)
o Scientific Calculator: Ultimate in Web Calculators with e notation, and a recorder for steps.
o Statistics Calculator: Sorting, n, Average, Variance, Standard Deviation of Input Array (more goodies to come)
o Ternary Graph Reader: Using mouse to read Triangle diagram where X+Y+Z = 100
o Tool Kit Various items to be used in conjunction with reading papers such as Scientific Calculator, Note Pad, ASCII table, Geologic Time Scale and links to Mineralogic and Chemical data bases.

IN THE MILL
Available but incompletely edited with revisions, corrections and additions forthcoming.

PERIODIC TABLE OF THE ELEMENTS IN SEA WATER
Standard information on the elements plus sea water values and references on a clickable table. Eventually will be an updated version of values reported in Quinby-Hunt and Wilde [1987]
COSMOLONIGOLOGIC ATLAS
Geologic and other Earth Science related maps of various states and countries
RARE EARTH ELEMENT ANOMALIES
Calculation of the Cerium and Europium Anomalies assuming the log linearity of the Rare Earth Elements.
